Babies and Families!

Yesterday we had a baby shower for Liz and her soon-to-be-born baby boy! Angie was kind enough to let us have it at her house. Terri pitched in by making some great cookies and helped us early on by creating the invitations. Mom made sure we had something to drink. Lindsie, with the help of Ashlee, pitched in with some great tarts, cream puffs and parfaits. And Liz even helped out a bunch by making some bruschetta with tomatoes, pumpkin dip with apples and gingersnaps, tortilla wraps, and spiced nuts!

We had food for an army! Liz got a lot of great gifts and we all had a good time visiting with each other. Angie's boys did a super job of eating food so we didn't have as many leftovers. My boys helped polish off more of the food since they had worked up an appetite playing Madden on the X-box while we were all at the shower! All-in-all it was a great day. We are so excited to get this first little grandbaby here on earth. We just ask Liz to wait until we get back from our cruise!

A beautiful ride yesterday!

Some of the neighbors decided to go on a bike ride at the last minute on Saturday the 18th.

Since I really don't have a lot going on in my life right now, I figured it wouldn't hurt to spend an afternoon on the back of the goldwing, occasionally stopping to take a picture or two, and just enjoying the beautiful fall weather.

We left about noon, and Steve and I stopped just past the bridge going from Conant Valley into Swan Valley, and took this picture.

We went to Alpine and up through Hoback Junction to get to Jackson. There we stopped and had lunch at Bubba's. This picture was taken along the river. Well, Steve was by the river. I was by the road and by the bike. I have great helmet hair by now, and yes, I am bundled up. It is better to be too warm and peel off layers, than to freeze the entire time you're riding. It actually was quite pleasant, but could have been chilly without the extra clothing.

All in all, it was a great day.

Me and My Mouth!

So, most of you know that I talk just a little bit. And with that little bit always comes things that come out a little wrong. I thought I'd tell of my latest to give you a little laugh!

Most of you know I went to Vegas last week with the assistant superintendent (Bruce). A software company sponsored the trip in hopes we'd buy their latest product. As part of the trip, they took us to Cirque de Soleil Beatles Love show. We had VIP tickets that allowed us a special room in the casino for drinks and appetizers.

The waitresses were dressed right out of the 60's to fit the theme of the show. The one greeting us looked like she stepped out of an Austin Power's movie. She handed me a bag. Bruce saw me, and said, "Where'd you get the bag?" I said, "The girl with the big boots gave it to me!"

He said, "The big what????" It was noisy in the room with music and people. I said, "The big boots!!!" and then realized that he'd misunderstood or was pulling my leg. "Oh, I know what you think I said." He said, "Yeah, I just wanted to make sure!!"

So when asked about the show upon returning I tell everyone, "It was a show with a lot of big boots!!!"

Family Motto

Our Stake President asked us a year ago to come up with a family motto. It was a good exercise to help you put into writing what you feel is important and a focus for your family. Then during ward conference this year, he read some of them from our ward.

I thought you might be interested in "The Curtis Family" motto. I don't know if I can make it look right on this blog, but I'll try.

Countenance of Christ

We were lucky to have a good "first letter" that inspired all of the words of things we should remember so that we can achieve that Countenance of Christ. We've been lucky to be blessed with such great sons and daughters-in-love that inspire us to be better!

Like Lindsey said on her blog, I need a blog tutor! I figure with the grandbabies coming, and Steve and I alone in the house, I better start something.

You wouldn't know that I work on computers all day long. This may be slow getting started.
